Ageless Classics with Mukta Singh

Ageless Classics with Mukta Singh

Introducing TRIBE 88.
A series of conversations with women who inspire.

From different walks of life, these women show us what it means to truly be yourself and how one goes against the norm to craft a future for themselves.

Are you inspired by certain music artists? Could you recommend your top tracks for us?

The music artists that inspire me the most are the musicians of the 70’s and 80’s, which doesn’t mean I don’t like the new age music but that is the music that inspires me the most and those are the musicians that I like to paint as well.

Who do you think is an ageless classic?

When it comes to ageless beauty, I’d say it is Grace Kelly, but when it comes to ageless style, I’d definitely say it is Sharon Stone. Not that she is not as beautiful as Grace Kelly but she has a sense of style that I really admire.

What does comfort mean to you?

Comfort in terms of clothing I feel clothes should feel like they are an extension of your personality. You should feel like yourself and not like someone you are trying to emulate or be like and not feel good in your own skin. Comfort has a lot to do with trial and error and discovering exactly what is your style.

One classic advice you would give to your 20 year old self?

Hindsight gives you the wisdom to really see yourself as a 20 year old that was insecure, and needed a lot of guidance about self-acceptance, self-esteem. So I would just tell my 20 year old self to not stress so much over what are the norms of beauty in society and try to adhere to them. Just enjoy your uniqueness and the vitality of my youth. Relish every single day of your life.

What does fitness mean to you and how important is it?

Fitness, I feel is extremely important to the way you look and feel and is extremely important to me because if I am not in my prime condition through fitness, I don’t feel so good and if I don’t feel good then I definitely don’t look good. Fitness for me is looking your best at whatever age or stage of your life. Adopting your own fitness regime and following it and finding joy in it is extremely important.

Monochrome or Colour?

Monochrome

Wine or Cheese?

Cheese.

Classic Black or Classic White?

Definitely Classic White.

Vinyl or Airpods?

Vinyls are beautiful things and a thing of my childhood, but one can’t replace the convenience of airpods. So any day, Airpods.

Your favorite classic movie that you always find comfort in?

I love watching movies and one of the movies that has really stayed with me and I would like to recommend is the movie Gran Torino. It is an extremely beautiful movie, very sensitive, with a real and interesting theme and I think it is a must watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it.
