COLLECTION NO 12
The past is fiction. The future is a dream. And this season we lie somewhere in between yesterday and tomorrow— in the now. Savouring the journey and unhurried in our pursuit of a particular time and place, this fall we choose to let the magic happen as we root ourselves in the present moment and take in the simpler pleasures of just being.
Perfectly situated in cities and far flung destinations Collection 12 is geared towards journeys and the spirit of bring on the road. Stripped off arduous forms and extraneous details, the pieces in the collection nod towards structure, utility and a borrowed-from-the-boys aesthete that’s softened to feel more feminine. Sticking to a more reserved color palette you’ll find olives, navy, mustard and khaki take center stage with just a few electric jolts of red, orange and gold thrown into the mix. And somewhere along the somber hues, flowing folds of silk and breezy cotton you’ll also find technicolor bursts of embroidery inspired by the psychedelic sea life of the Great Barrier Reef.
Championing simplicity, honesty and a certain innocence, the collection perfectly encapsulates a life on-the-move and lived through a travelers' lens, reminding us to slow down and take a moment one minute and jolting us into action the next.
ABOUT THE LABEL AND THE DESIGNER
431-88 was started in 2012 to design a line for the woman who embraces her sexiness with an allusion of a sporty style. Being minimal in its outlook, the label exhibits a sharp focus on deconstructing the idea behind the collection to its absolute core and translating that into astute designs and detailed tailoring.
In every piece, traditional seams and darts are manipulated to achieve a constrained distortion. The label has lately been endorsed by celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha amongst others.
The designer, Shweta Kapur is a design graduate from the London College of Fashion, and has worked with VPL in New York, Burberry in London and trained with Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Jaanvi in India. She won the Elle Graduates Award for Excellence in Urban Tailoring for her debut in 2013 and has been showing at the Amazon Fashion Week ever since. She has also been featured in many magazines as one of the upcoming young designers in India.
